The new Modernization of Cosmetics Regulation Act of 2022 (MoCRA) gives the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) broad powers to regulate the cosmetics industry. Contrary to what the agency's name suggests, the FDA is also the regulatory agency responsible for cosmetics, alcohol, tobacco, e-cigarettes, medical devices and more. Here are the key findings regarding MoCRA:

1. Registration requirements for all manufacturers of cosmetics as well as their products
2. Strict reporting requirements in case of incidents
3. The biggest cosmetics law reform in the USA since 1938 (!)
